Recently Li Lianghui, commander of the Xinjiang Military District; Ma

Diankui, chief of staff of the military district; Wang Wude, director

of the military district's logistics department; and other relevant

leaders of the military district inspected several armed forces units

stationed in Urumqi and visited their officers and soldiers.

Commander Li Lianghui pointed out:

At present, we must conscientiously carry out the autonomous region's

work guidelines on resolutely safeguarding Xinjiang's stability and

putting stability above everything else.

We must understand that without stability, there can be no development

in Xinjiang. Safeguarding social stability and ensuring the people's

normal work and life order is an unshirkable responsibility of the

armed forces in time of peace. From the high plane of politics, we

must ensure the implementation of the work concerning stability.

Commander Li Lianghui stressed:

All armed forces units must understand the situation more explicitly,

have clear ideas about their responsibilities, and make new

contributions to the stability and development of Xinjiang,

particularly Urumqi.
