[CND, 05/08/97] A month-long propaganda campaign for ethnic unity and

against separatist violence has been launched in Xinjiang for the current

Nationality Unity Education Month, Reuter reported from Beijing. This

education campaign would be carried out through all government units and

schools in the region where ethnic Uighur minority forms the majority of

the population, Reuter cited the official Xinjiang Daily. People would be

organized to read a book titled "View of Marxism Unity among

Nationalities" and to see a new film called "The Birthday of Anna", a

story about different ethnic people fighting together against splittist

criminals. The region's television and Xinjiang Daily would run a special
