I would like to bring this topic to everyone's attention. It seems to be
inevitable that Japan is taking the opportunity of UN reform to become a
permanent member of UN security council. We are deeply disturbed by the
situation. Japan is the country which had brutalized east Asia, caused
imparable damages to China more than any other aggressors in the Chinese
history. For over 50 years, Japanese government and Japanese people never had
a word of apology, showed absolutely no penitence. Even further, Japanese
government is taking every effort to revitalize its barbarous militarism.
They have never stopped plan of building nuclear arsenal, continue to occupy
Chinese territory--Diao Yu Island, and conspire to instigate Taiwan's
independence. Very clearly, Japan is, today and in the future, the only
country which is willing and capable of putting China under its direct threat.
Unfortunately, China is still weak economically and militarily and does not
have the counter-weighing power to lessen the threat from Japan. UN is the
final ground where China can still hold off Japan's progression. Now China is
losing the only leverage over Japan in the world politics. If we examine the
situation from a global perspective, we would find China in an even more
difficult and more unfavourable position. After entering security council,
Japan will obviously form hostile force, along with the Britain and US,
against China. France and Russia will be most likely on-lookers. China will
have to fight alone to thwart Japan's attempt to challenge China's national
defence. Japan is looking for legal ground and political justification for
future invasion into China's waters and islands to the east and south. US,
Japan and Australia have already formed military alliance against China. To
our disappointment, Sino-Russian "partnership" lacks intrinsic adherence and
substantial content. It serves no better than Russian's moan toward NATO
expansion.
What should we do? Where is our tactics? What are our weapons? We have already
traded nearly 2 million square Kilometers of land for a "peaceful environment"
to the western countries from Khazakstan to India. What we have been awarded
is their uncommitted "peace" along with their greater appetites. We probably
have to make similarly painful concessions to Philippines and other ASIAN
countries because our unmatched maritime resolves and capabilities in order
to spare our attentions for dealing with Japan and US. Even so, what we have
been able to do is using our market as spear and trade as shield to parry off
their ever audacious offence. Our national assets, our industrial
productivity, our market and our cultural foundation are the only casualties
and victims.
Now, back to the issue of Japan's entry to the security council. We at least
can try our last effort to hamper Japan's UN attempt. We should seek
cooperations from Korea and other Asian countries, write a letter to the UN
general secretary and distribute the letter among all the UN members, organize
exhibitions of Japan's war time crimes and atrocities around the world, make a
comparison between Germany and Japan to alert the world of Japan's evil
nature. We should waste no time on this matter. If we don't do it, then
who else will.
