Lhasa, 1st June: Chinese geologists have discovered 32 kinds of minerals that have industrial potential in Tibet, of which chromite, copper, boron, and 13 others are among the country's top 10 in terms of reserves.
Tibet is rich in mineral resources, with proven copper reserves of 8.7m tons and has the country's largest porphyry copper belt.
Geologists have also found large chromite reserves in the southern part of the region. Proven chromite reserves there amount to 5m tons. Proven boron reserves amount to over 30m tons and large placer gold deposits and several other mid-sized deposits have also been found.
