Urumqi, June 5 (Xinhua) -- The American Relief Fund has sent medical
equipment and medicine worth 750,000 U.S. dollars to northwest China's
Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to help earthquake-relief efforts.
Jiashi County in southern Xinjiang has suffered subsequent earthquakes
measuring more than six on the Richter scale since January, killing
over 6,000 livestock and injuring 122 people. More than 300,000 local
people are suffering from the calamity, and governments at all levels
are stepping up their relief efforts.
