ICT to present Tibet's case before International Peoples' Tribunal on Human Rights and the Environment
The International Peoples' Tribunal on Human Rights and the Environment is convening for the first time in New York City from June 22 to 23, 1997. Victims of unsustainable development practices, the world's rural and urban poor, and its beleagured indigenous people are bringing cases from Liberia, Nigeria, Burma, Tibet, India, Boliva, Mexico, Honduras, Guyana, the USA, the Arctic Circle and Canada.
Tenzing D. Sharchok will present present the testimony on behalf of the International Campaign for Tibet.
The Tribunal will present its decisions on Monday, June 23 at 7 pm followed by a press conference.
The proceedings are free and open to the public.
Venue: United Nations Church Center, 777 UN Plaza
The Tribunal is being organized by the Human Rights Caucus of the Non-Governmental Organizations to the United Nations commission on Sustainable Development (UN-CSD).
