The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) are presently in Madison, Wisconsin during a four city tour in the USA. TIPA visited the Wisconsin State Capitol on Friday September 12, 1997. During this visit, they were given a private tour of the Governor's Office. Governor Tommy Thompson was unfortunately away on official trip, however Debbie Hochkammer on his behalf presented the director of the troupe, Jamyang Dorje with a beautiful plaque with a proclamation from the Governor. The proclamation read as follows:

I am especially pleased to salute The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts.
In Recognition of Performing in Wisconsin The time and talent you have put forth to keep the Tibetan culture alive is truly commendable. You have made tremendous contribution to your Heritage that have been instrumental in the preservation of Tibetan folk culture. The Music, Dance and theatrical Tradition you perform are a tribute to keeping the Tibetan Culture alive.
