[ETIC, 9/20/97] A meeting in commemoration of an Uyghur poet-democrat Lutpullah Mutallip took place in Bishkek, the capital of Kygyzstan on September 18. The ceremony was organized by the Uyghur association Ittipak. A group of Uyghur poets and writers from Almaty, headed by the famous Uyghur writer Ziya Samadi, took part at the meeting. The event gathered about 1000 participants and continued for 3 and half hours. [Rabiye Yakub, Bishkek]
