Tibetan Youth Congress Dated: November 1, 1997
DHARAMSALA, Tibetan Youth Congress extend its warm appreciation to the US State Department for being able to implement the statement given earlier by appointing the US Special Coordinator for Tibet, before the departure of the Chinese President, Mr. Jiang Zemin. The announcement of Mr. Gragory B. Craig as a Special Coordinator by the Clinton Administration clearly shows their seriousness about the issue of Tibet and is a bold leap to the solution for the plight of Tibetan people.
Tibetan Youth Congress Heartily Felicitate Mr. Greg B.C (the Director of Policy Planning at the Department of State) for being appointed as Special Coordinator for Tibet at the U.S. Department of State.
We firmly believe that he will implement the missions stated by the US Secretary for State, that includes:-
a) to "promote substantive dialogue between the government of the People s Republic of China and the Dalai Lama or his representatives to peacefully resolve the Tibetan problem through Negotiations."
b) to "vigorously promote the U.S. policy of seeking to protect the unique religious, cultural and linguistic heritage of Tibet."
c) to press "for improved respect for human rights."
Tibetan Youth Congress, fully hope that, Mr. Greg will exercise his power to the best interest of his responsibility under any circumstances.
Karma Yeshi(Mr.), Vice-President
