The concern expressed by intellectuals, thinkers, writers, artists, legal experts and nations over China`s policy on Tibet is bound to influence the Chinese Government in the long run, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has said. ``I strongly believe that the authoritative regime of the Chinese Communist Government will be met with stiff resistance in the wake of the increasing opposition of the Tibetan people. The protest will force the Chinese Government to concede the demand of Tibetans for autonomy and suffrage", he told newsmen in Mysore. He expressed happiness over what he described as ``encouraging signs'' of concern for the people of Tibet from the intelligentsia and several student groups in China. A group of writers, artists, thinkers and democrats in Shanghai had appealed to the Chinese Government in 1994 demanding autonomy for Tibet and that it resume talks with the Dalai Lama, who is the head of the Tibetan Government in exile and also the spiritual leader of the Tibetan communities all over the world.
