BEIJING (Feb. 24) XINHUA - The Information Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China today issued a white paper titled "New Progress in Human Rights in the Tibet Autonomous Region".
The Central Government has extended great efforts to promote the progress in human rights in Tibet, with the autonomous region scoring constant progress in related efforts.
The white paper with more than 10,000 Chinese characters has presented the facts about the new progress made in human rights in the Tibet Autonomous Region since 1992.
The white paper contains four parts: Ethnic Regional Autonomy System and the People's Political Rights; Economic Development and the People's Rights to Existence and Development; The People Enjoy the Rights to Education, Culture and Health Protection; The Right to Freedom of Religious Belief.
The white paper will be published in eight languages, namely, the Han
(Chinese) and Tibetan languages, as well as English, French, Spanish,
Russian, German and Japanese.
It is the second white paper issued by the Information Office of the
Chinese State Council. In September 1992 the Information Office issued a white paper titled "Tibet -- Its Ownership and Human Rights Situation."
