World Tibet Network News Monday, April 20, 1998
On March 10, six brave Tibetans went on a non-violent hunger strike in New Delhi. Today, it is exactly 38 days and the fast goes on! Their demand is that our civilized world do something to help resolve the internecine Sino-Tibetan problem.
We do not know how many more days the hunger strikers will last. If one or more of them should die because we failed to offer even a cursory lip service, their blood will be as much on our hands as it will be on the hands of the Government of the People's Republic of China.
Therefore we, the following signatories, appeal to the President of the United States of America, and the Secretary General of the United Nations Organization for their help to resolve the Tibetan crisis before six more precious lives are lost.
Prof. Thubten Jigme Norbu, Eldest Brother of H.H. the Dalai Lama
Dr. Chiautong Ng, Chairman, World United Formosans for Independence
Dr. James Lee, President, World Federation of Taiwanese Associations
Dr. Se-kai Koh, Chairman, Taiwan Independence Party
