TIBETAN YOUTH CONGRESS UPDATE

Early today, at 6.00 in the morning, about 600 personal of Delhi Police. Central Reserve Police and gun-toting rapid Action Force sweeped on Jantar Mantar and took away the remaining three Tibetans hunger strikers after overcoming resistance from some 300 Tibetans gathered there. The police formed a human curtain round the strikers and prevented anybody from seeing how the strikers were removed.

Thupten Ngodup (60) former soldier and peon at the Department of Secutiry attempted self immilation. His flaming body was seen charging towards the tent where the police wereattempting to pick up the strikers. Tibetans nearby smothered the fire. The police then took him to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Where all the hunger strikers were also taken. Half an hour later, the whole place was in ruins. The strikers tent was ripped and its poles thrown about. The frame holding the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi, the inspiration for the strikers was seen shattered on the ground.

The three hunger strikers are Mr. Yungdrung Tsering (28). Mrs Palzom (68) and Mr. Kunsang (70)
