VIENNA, April 27 (AFP) - Tibet's exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, is to visit Austria in June and will meet notably with Foreign Minister Wolfgang Schuessel, the APA news agency reported.
The 62-year-old Dalai Lama, who has lived in exile in northern India since 1959, will give a number of addresses in Vienna during the June 9-11 visit.
He will also visit the western town of Bad Ischl, whose mayor was asked by the Chinese embassy here to withdraw the invitation. The request was declined.
The Dalai Lama, who travels regularly overseas to promote his call for the autonomy of his homeland, visited Austria in 1991 when he held talks with President Kurt Waldheim and Chancellor Franz Vranitzky.
