KATHMANDU, May 25 (AFP) - Some 35 Tibetans including nine women have been arrested by border police for illegally entering Nepal, the state-owned RSS news agency said Monday. The Tibetans were arrested Saturday as they entered Nepalese territory from Korke village in Gorkha district in the west of the country, it said.
"Those arrested on Saturday have been sent to the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu for necessary action," the news agency said. Tibetan pilgrims normally pass through Nepal on their way to Dharamsala in northern India, to receive blessings from the exiled Dalai Lama --spiritual leader of the Tibetans. The Dalai Lama has been living in India since he fled his homeland in 1959 after a failed anti-Chinese uprising. India is also home to more than 100,000 Tibetan exiles.
