World Tibet Network News Monday, May 25, 1998
On May 23rd 1951, the Tibetan delegation sent by the then independent Tibet- Gaden Podrang were forced to sign the infamous 17 point agreement by the Chinese Communist authorities. Forged seals of the Tibetan Government were used to authenticate the agreement. On this day the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) initiates massive protest programs all over the world. TYC members from different places of India such as Mussoorie, Mainpat (Madya Pradesh), Shimla, Solan, NainTal, Dharamsala, Chauntra, Dalhousie, Herbertpur, Puruwala, Paonta Sahib, Pondoh, Rajpur, Dekyiling and Delhi consisting of three hundred TYC activist are to paint the Chinese Embassy wall with blood and print slogans like FREE TIBET with their own blood.
The TYC activist have droped from different directions chants slogans like TIBET BELONGS TO TIBET, CHINESE! GO TO CHINA, FREE TIBET, LONG LIVE DALAI LAMA etc. This is to be followed by burning of effigy of the Chinese President Jiang Zemin and also burning of the Chinese flags. All these are to be done in front of the Chinese embassy gate in a sudden and swift manner. The TYC activist are to shout slogans for about an hour. If the first batch of TYC activist are arrested another batch would follow them. This kind of replacement will enable us to continue with another youth group to paint the Chinese embassy with their own blood and the sequence will continue till 2:00 O'clock.
This TYC's protest demonstration is to coincide with and remember the black day of May 23rd and protest against recent shooting of the political prisoners inside Drapchi prison on May 4th during demonstration. The political prisoners in Drapchi prison demonstrated within the prison complex first on May 1st and then on May 4th i.e. the Youth Day, demanding FREE TIBET and raising slogans in support of the TYC's Hunger Strike in New Delhi. We salute those brave Tibetans and resolutely affirm our commitments to follow them in carrying the torch of FREE TIBET till the end.
