ARE NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN CHINA AND TIBET IMMINENT?
All who care deeply about the cause of Tibet and the cause of democracy in China are watching closely the evolution of economic and political reforms in China. The Clinton trip, statements on Sino-Tibetan negotiations, reform of the armed forces, the economic crisis, strong positions taken at the Tibetan Youth Congress -- all of these represent only some of the factors for analysis in evaluating the difficult and extremely complex situation in the Asian region.
In this issue of "Democracy for China -- Freedom for Tibet Fax", we analyze certain aspects of China's domestic and foreign relations to try to understand whether -- as claimed by many -- the era of Sino-Tibetan negotiations is imminent and what type of negotiations are likely.
At the same time, the collection of funds to save "Radio Voice of Tibet" is continuing, although it is not yet really up to speed. In this issue is a form drawn up by the Norwegian foundation for circulation to solicit subscriptions to the campaign.
You all have your work cut out for you.
