The debate on the new radical party is growing. The transnational party, especially in the east, is also growing. The needs of new methods of communication and translations are increasing as well, but not registrations or funds. Just this modest fortnightly news bulletin alone (translated and distributed in 10 languages) costs approximately 7,000 dollars per issue. And we do not have 168,000 dollars for one year.

It is a classical situation of bankruptcy.

Of course we cannot ask our colleagues in Moscow or in Prague, who already spend the last rouble and crown to enable democracy and the party to exist, to bear the responsibility of this problem.

Unfortunately we cannot even request the many "sleeping democrats" who live in the west, satisified and inert from the well-being of "real democracy".

What is to be done then? Give up everything? Abandon the ring of democratic struggle?

Marco Pannella has not resigned himself to any such thing. Recently he has independently established the registration campaign for the new party, which we have still not set up but wish that it be born: the radical party of 1990.

He has done this by personally investing the corresponding costs of one and a half issues of the "Lettera Radicale" (the News Bulletin of the Radical Party). We cannot in fact conceive of important and worthwhile projects, if we are willing to devote only the surplus, and perhaps not even our free time, to carry them out.

Three hundred companies have already expressed their interest in this challenge.

"What to do" today signifies registering immediately with the radical party, using the printed form at the back of this issue. But it signifies above all speaking about the radical party with friends who are loved and respected, proposing to them something is admired and respected.
