DRUGS - The Shultz bomb : "Drugs cannot be restrained"

Rome 3 November 89

Former US secretary of state George Shultz, has returned to teach at the Stanford Business school where, recently, he held a discourse on the fight against drugs during the Nixon Reagan presidencies and the prospectives of the Bush plan.

The views expressed by Shultz should have exploded like a bomb in the international debate on drugs. Shultz is in fact a man of order, not a "radical". He explains how his attempts to fight drugs with repressive measures failed. We arrive therefore to the necessary conclusion: the need to seperate the criminal market from that of drugs. How? With the legislation of drugs. But, despite the publication of this article in Wall Street Journal and the La Stampa, nothing happened. No politician or newspaper took up the debate. Nothing. Doped information?
