CZECHOSLOVAKIA

ALSO ARRESTED IN PRAGUE YESTERDAY JOHN BOK, OF THE RADICAL PARTY. TELEGRAMME OF THE RADICAL SECRETARY STANZANI TO THE CZECHOSLOVAKIAN AMBASSADOR TO ROME

Rome 18 November - N.R. - John Bok was also arrested yesterday afternoon, during the huge demonstration that saw hundreds of thousands of Czechoslovakian citizens manifesting at Prague. Bok belongs to the Radical Party. He was accused of having attacked a policeman: an accusation that is absolutely and radically baseless. Bok was a victim, like many others, of an unjustified, violent and indiscriminate act of repression, used by police forces to impede an authorised demonstration from becoming a peaceful one.

The first secretary of the Radical Party, Sergio Stanzani, sent the following telegramme to the Czechoslovakian ambassador to Rome today:

"Shocked by the violently repressive action that took place yesterday in Prague against a peaceful demonstration, I request the immediate release of the arrested citizens, among whom our colleague John Bok of the Radical Party; I confirm, in the name of the Radical Party, that the application of democratic rights is obligatory to the Czechoslovakian government by the Helsinki accord and the successive international accords that are widely subscribed."

ON 30 OCTOBER, THE TRADITIONAL DAY FOR SOVIET POLITICAL PRISONERS, PEOPLE BELONGING TO THE RADICAL PARTY OF BAKI IN AZERBAIGIAN UNITED AT THE RADICAL ASSOCIATION PEACE AND LIBERTY, PARTICIPATING IN A DAY OF FAST IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE PRISONERS OF CONSCIENCE IN THE SOVIET UNION.

DESPITE ALL ASSURANCES ON THE PART OF THE SOVIET GOVERNMENT, ABOUT 150 PEOPLE ARE STILL DETAINED IN CONCENTRATION CAMPS, PRISONS AND PSYCHIATRIC WARDS FOR THEIR POLITICAL CONVICTIONS. CALL BY THE RADICAL ASSOCIATION PEACE AND LIBERTY DIRECTED TO ALL INTERNATIONAL ORGANISATIONS WHO ARE FIGHTING FOR HUMAN RIGHTS TO OBTAIN THE RELEASE OF POLITICAL PRISONERS IN THE SOVIET UNION AND TO LIMIT, BY LAW, THE ACTIVITIES OF THE KGB: "THIS CAN BE OBTAINED ONLY WITH THE HELP AND SUPPORT OF ALL THE DEMOCRATIC AND PACIFICIST FORCES IN THE WEST", THEY AFFIRMED.

YUGOSLAVIA

CONGRESS OF THE YUGOSLAVIAN SOCIALIST YOUTH (ZSMS) - MARINO BUSDACHIN INTERVENED ON BEHALF OF THE RADICAL PARTY. GREETING BY MARCO PANNELLA, HONORARY MEMBER OF THE LEAGUE OF YOUNG SOCIALISTS.

Marino Busdachin, who intervened at the Congress of Young Socialists, emphasised the importance of the event and conveyed the greetings of Marco Pannella - who was unable to attend due to another meeting with the Anti-Prohibitionist Organisation in Washington, USA. The federal counsellors of the Radical Party, Eros Bicic and Vitomar Cesmadziski, formed part of the radical delegation.

The decisions taken at the congress confirm the willingness of the socialist youth to transform themselves into an independent and liberal-democratic party and to participate autonomously at the next elections during spring in Slovenia. It is to be noted that the congress maintained that it would have to insert a further norm to establish the transpartite character of the "new" political formation in the statutory reforms.
