RUMANIA: FIRST DEMONSTRATION IN ROME- OUTSIDE THE RUMANIAN EMBASSY IN ITALY - FOR DEMOCRACY IN RUMANIA AFTER THE EVENTS OF TIMISOARA AND ARAD. PROMOTED BY RADICAL PARTY, RUMANIAN REFUGEES AND HUMAN RIGHTS COMMITTEE IN RUMANIA.

SATURDAY TORCH LIGHT PROCESSION TO TRAJAN'S COLUMN.

Rome, December 1989 - At 12.00 p.m. today a demonstration took place in Rome for democracy in Rumania, promoted jointly by the Radical Party, Rumanian refugees and the Human Rights Committee in Rumania. The demonstration took place outside the Rumanian Embassy in Italy: it was the first initiative organized after the events of Timisoara and Arad against one of the bloodiest and most authoritarian regimes in the world, a month after the major mobilization when the Radical Party demonstrated on November 15 last in many European capitals (Moscow, Rome, Budapest, Brussels, Prague, Warsaw, Madrid, Lisbon, Belgrade, Paris) on the anniversary of the happenings of Brasov.

RADICAL PARTY -ZAGREB: CONSTITUTION OF RADICAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE UNITED STATES OF EUROPE. VITO CESMADZISKI AND ZORAN JURICIN ELECTED RESPECTIVELY SECRETARY AND TREASURER. SANDRO OTTONI WAS ALSO PRESENT FOR THE RADICAL PARTY.

Zagreb, December 21, 1989 (NR), In the presence of more than a hundred Croatian citizens, in the Writers' Club, Zagreb, the Radical Association for the United States of Europe was formally established. Many Croatian alternative political forces (Social Democrat Party, Green Movement, Group for the Rights of Sexual Minorities, Association for Yugoslav-European Collaboration, the Croatian Democrative Alternative and the Esperantist Association) brought their greetings and their encouragement before the public of Radical sympathizers and members as well as the numerous journalists and representatives of radio and television networks present.

The objective of the Association, as can be read in its statutes, is the implementation, with nonviolent democratic methods, of the United States of Europe, and Yugoslavia's entry to the European Community. Sandro Ottoni, bringing greetings from the Radical Party, explained how a Radical association was not a single section of the Party but an autonomous organism, with its own political and financial structure.

At the end of the assembly, elections took place for the statutory organs. Vito Cesmakziski, a 39 year old graphic designer, a Macedonian, was elected Secretary. Zeljko Rosko, a 29 year old Croatian journalist was elected Treasurer. Likewise, two Auditors were elected.

During the assembly, 26 citizens decided to join the transnational Radical Party of 1990.

RADICAL PARTY-USSR: DEMONSTRATION IN MOSCOW OF EUGENIA DEBRIANSKAIA AND SOVIET RADICALS WHO PROTESTED ON RED SQUARE AGAINST INJUNCTION TO PAY 3,000 ROUBLES FINE FOR NON-AUTHORIZED DEMONSTRATIONS. PAYMENT WAS CONSIDERED NECESSARY BY AUTHORITIES TO GRANT EUGENIA DEBRIANSKAIA AUTHOUIZATION TO PARTICIPATE IN RADICAL PARTY FEDERAL COUNCIL. EUGENIA DEBRIANSKAIA'S DOCUMENT.

Rome, December 29 (NR)

Eugenia Debrianskaia and other Soviet Radicals, demonstrated today at 3.00 p.m. (Moscow time) on Red Square, to protest against thE injunction to pay a fine of 3,000 roubles for three non-authorized demonstrations in the past few months (for legality and information in the West, for the anniversary of the massacre of Brasov in Rumania, for the anniversary of the occupation of Afghanistan).

Payment of the fine was deemed necessary by the Soviet authorities in order to grant Eugenia Debrianskaia permission to go to Italy for the Radical Party Federal Council, which was to take place from January 2 to January 7 and of which she was the member elected with the most votes.

Eugenia Debrianskaia explained her reasons for her action on Red Square in a document which states among other things: "Of the three demonstrations for which I was sentenced to a fine of 3,000 roubles, two were against events in our past or present situation which are now officially criticized. Gorbachev, for example, agreed with the recent changes in Rumania but - in my opinion - he did not agree with the fall of Ceauscescu. It would be possible to believe in the sincerity of his declarations if they were followed by the cancellation of fines and trials for the November 15 demonstration for Rumania.

The amoral aspect of the Cremlin politicy is that for as long as possible it was supported by its Stalinist satellites. This was the case for Czechoslovakia, the German Democratic Republic, Poland, Bulgaria, and until the very, Rumania. The truth of Gorbachev's latest announcements will not be certain until the participants of the demonstrations against the occupation of Czechoslovakia and Afghanistan and of the national liberation movements, have been rehabilitated. But we must deal with Gorbachev's habit of not making facts follow his words."
