Dear friends,

the accomplishment of this new transnational, transpartisan and nonviolent party through the direct adhesion of its militants, is advancing slowly. This is true for those who work at this project every day as for those who, from any place in Europe or elsewhere, have already decided to become a member of it, to invest in this project, and who are trying, with the scarce means available, to give their personal contribution to the common effort.

Temptations to drop everything, or to return to the former Radical party, the one we decided to abandon deeming it an obsolete means to tackle the major challenges of our time, are not rare. Likewise, there is also the risk of taking short cuts, of putting the cart before the horse, as if this party we intend to create already existed in all respects, and enabled us to face one or more of the indispensable transnational battles with fair chances of success: battles against the return of nationalisms and for the creation of the United States of Europe or of Africa, against the numerous threats to the planet's survival, for the right to life in the Third World, against the tragedy of free drugs and for their regulation...

The key to the overcoming of such difficult situation remains but one: the immediate adhesion to the Radical Party of hundreds and thousands of people who decide, they too, to invest in this "sensible folly". Only if this condition is fulfilled, only if dozens of parliamentarians, hundreds of militants belonging to the most diverse parties together with thousands of citizens belonging to no party decide to join us, will we be in the condition to decide our new rules and to choose our common priorities.

In certain respects, we realize it, it is a sort of "blank cheque", a demonstration of confidence and hope, not only in something that does not exist yet, but also in ourselves.
