Dear friends,

In the following chart you will find the list of signatories per country of the appeal for the abolition of the death penalty in the Soviet Union. The figures are very clear: a patent demonstration of what it is possible to do when we mobilize, but also the demonstration that much more could be done. This is the reason why we are publishing the appeal once more, asking all of you to contact a parliamentarian, writing, telephoning, calling on him/her. With the hope that in a few weeks' time we will be able to achieve - why not! - two thousand signatories, and therefore have a solid basis to create an international league for the abolition of the death penalty worldwide by year 2000....
