- Mr President, I apologise for having to come back, but the problem is not one of background noise. The problem is the sound levels emanating from the live microphones and the sound levels one must have to hear the interpretation through the earphones. It is not background noise from speaking. The problem is related to the microphones. I am asking Members of this House, until such time as the problem can be looked at, not to shout into the microphones when they speak but to speak quietly. If they do not shout there will be no need to turn the sound up for the necessary interpretation back through the earphones.
