- Mr President, on a point of order. I wish to refer to the manner in which the European Commission proposed that we should increase the aid to the International Fund for Ireland. That proposal was made as if the Commission had the sole right and the sole authority to offer this money. There was no reference to the fact that the Commission could only ask for Parliament to vote for this money. The role of the Parliament has been seriously neglected in this affair and the people of Ireland were given the impression weeks ago that only the Commission was involved.
