I thank the Commissioner and I am very pleased with the comprehensive reply which he gave. It is obvious that the Commission is aware of the situation.

I would like to ask him if he would agree to set up an urgent action programme in conjunction with local and regional organizations to address the additional concern relating to the street children in south-east Asia, particularly the Philippines where there are 2,000 children abandoned each year? In the Philippines there are 1.5 million children working more or less as slaves. Would you pay particular attention to the situation of street children there?
