Subject: Future action for older people

Following the momentum built up by the European Year of Older People in 1993, can the Commission assure this Parliament that full attention will continue to be given to older people, and that proposals for a second action programme for older people will be published as soon as possible to demonstrate this?

Will the Commission also assure Parliament that the current programme of activities funded by this year's budget of ECU 5.6 million will be continued next year at the same levels?
