Could I ask the Commissioner, as a link between the European Year of the Elderly and the European Year of the Family, if the Commission would pay particular attention in the studies it finances to the position of carers - people who have to look after the elderly - because that is becoming an increasing problem across the twelve Member States of the European Union. Many of those individual carers have to make massive sacrifices in order to look after their own elderly relatives or other individuals. I do not think that is given sufficient attention throughout the European Union. Would the Commission finance a study to look at how the carers might be in a sense better cared for themselves?
