I think there is considerable anxiety among steel workers in my constituency and in Wales about any possibility of further cuts of production required of them. They have met their obligation in full, and even though they have met their obligation in full, in fact we have a situation within the EU where we are, so I am told, still in over-capacity to the extent of something like 11 million tonnes. I have no interest at all in seeing the German, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese steel workers suffer what steel workers in Wales suffered in terms of being thrown onto the scrap heap at a very early age. But I would ask the Commission, if there are to be any further cuts in steel production, whether those cuts should not be required of the Continental steel producers rather than of the British steel industry.
