Mr President, I rise on a point of order under Rule 42, Questions for written answer to the Commission. I had to submit 17 written questions to the Commission. I must confess there was no payment for them. There was no lobbying organization that approached me for them nor did I receive any payment at all. However, I wanted the 17 questions to be answered in a specific, separate form. What I got was a collective response rather than an individual response to each individual question.

I should like to add that 50% of the answers were in the French language rather than in my own language. I think you will understand that I do not dance around with other people's languages and I do not expect anyone else to dance around with mine.

I should like to ask your office to ensure that all the questions which I have asked are answered separately as I requested and that they are included in the Official Journal so that the public can have knowledge of these questions and also of the Commission's answers.

Finally, Mr President, I ask you to remind the Commission that it is part of a parliament's duty to be accountable to its citizens. That is why we have the Official Journal and that is why the Official Journal is published in all the languages of the Member States of the Community, so that it is available to the public and in the public domain. I would hope and trust that in future the Commission will carry out its responsibilities in this area.
