Mr President, I would like to make a personal statement under Rule 108. I have been informed by colleagues that I was attacked yesterday afternoon by Mrs Stirbois among others and accused of lying about the Front National in Belgium and France in the debate on racism.

I would be grateful if they could tell me which of the points I made were incorrect. I did say that Mr Daniel Leskens, No 1 on the list for the Front National Belge in Anderlecht, had actually been recorded on video urinating on Jewish graves and claiming that a holocaust did not happen. No one, as far as I know, has yet denied that that is true.

Secondly, I did say that the violently anti-Semitic French Front National newspaper Présent had received a subsidy of FF 600 000 from the French Government and that that was appalling. As far as I know, they are not denying that that was true.

The one area where I do have a correction to make is that I said in response to Mr Le Gallou, who called for complete freedom of speech, that one does not allow someone to cry "fire" in the cinema and that his friends, or at least friends of Mr Antony, were not crying "fire": they were pouring the petrol and throwing the matches. I am not sure whether Mr Le Gallou is a friend of Mr Antony's. If he is not, I apologize to him. But otherwise I have to say that it was Mr Antony's ex-directory telephone number that was found in a house raided when people were searching for the terrorists who had been fire-bombing cinemas in France and attacking them for showing The Last Temptation of Christ.
