Mr President, could I just stress the importance of the European Parliament's position on a document that may appear by Monday of next week. It is the document I have already referred to. I would not like a decision to be taken today, two days before that document appears. It gives a free hand for negotiations to be held on behalf of the European Union with Morocco on area of sea that does not belong to Morocco.
I appeal to the Commission and all the Member States to honour the peace process and the process of decolonization. I regret that some Member States, including very recently Spain, have been involved in substantial arms sales to Morocco. We should note this, and we should call for an end to it.
But today we are talking about fisheries. That particular area of the coast is not part of Morocco. It has a special status. That should be taken into account, and that is why it is absolutely vital not to support the PPE's resolution on this issue.
(Parliament rejected the motion for a resolution)
