The Economic and Social Council,
Recalling its resolution 1982/27 of 4 May 1982 on the International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women,
Bearing in mind the goals of the United Nations Decade for Women:
Equality, Development and Peace,
Having considered the report of the Board of Trustees of the International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women on its third session,
1. Expresses its satisfaction with the activities thus far accomplished in the programme of work of the International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women;
2. Takes note of the decisions and recommendations made by the Board of Trustees of the Institute at its third session;
3. Notes with satisfaction the completion of the first phase of the programme on statistics and indicators on the situation of women and the launching of training and fellowship programmes of the Institute;
4. Emphasizes that the work programme of the Institute for the biennium 1984-1985 should continue to focus on research, training and information that would lead to the integration of women in mainstream developmental activities;
5. Reiterates the need for support and close co-operation between the Institute and the regional commissions, specialized agencies and other United Nations bodies;
6. Calls upon all Member States to contribute to the United Nations Trust Fund for the International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women and to ensure regular and effective financing for its progress and development.
