Review of the functioning of the Joint Meetings of the Committee for Programme and Co-ordination and the Administrative Committee on Co-ordination

The Economic and Social Council,

Recalling its decision 1983/173 of 28 July 1983, by which it decided to review, at its organizational session for 1984, the functioning of the Joint Meetings of the Committee for Programme and Co-ordination and the Administrative Committee on Co-ordination,

Having considered the comments made in this regard by the Committee for Programme and Co-ordination and the Administrative Committee on Co-ordination,

Having considered also, in accordance with the request made by the General Assembly in its resolution 38/227/B of 20 December 1983, the question of and application of paragraph 12 of General Assembly resolution 31/93 of 14 December 1976,

1. Decides that the Joint Meetings of the Committee for Programme and Co-ordination and the Administrative Committee on Co-ordination shall be held at Geneva on 2 to 3 July 1984;

2. Decides also to review at its organizational session for 1985 the functioning of the Joint Meetings;

3. Recommends the Committee for Programme and Co-ordination and the Administrative Committee on Co-ordination to discuss at their next Joint Meetings the topic of the implementation of the International Development Strategy for the Third United Nations Development Decade with system-wide implications, and with special emphasis on Africa, by the organs, organizations and bodies of the United Nations system;

4. Endorses the conclusions and recommendations of the Committee for Programme and Co-ordination, as approved by the General Assembly in its resolution 38/227B;

5. Decides to recommend to the General Assembly the continuation of the current application of paragraph 12 of Assembly resolution 31/93.
