Regional arrangements for the promotion and protection of human rights
The Economic and Social Council,
Recalling General Assembly resolutions 34/171 of 17 December 1979, 35/197 of 15 December 1980 and 36/154 of 16 December 1981 on regional arrangements for the promotion and protection of human rights,
Recalling also General Assembly resolution 37/171 of 17 December 1982, by which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to transmit the report of the Seminar on National, Local and Regional Arrangements for the Protection of Human Rights in the Asian Region, held at Colombo from 21 June to 2 July 1982, to States members of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific and to invite their comments thereon,
1. Takes note of the report of the Secretary-General on regional arrangements for the promotion and protection of human rights and the comments of States members of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific annexed thereto;
2. Requests States members of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific region that have not yet done so to communicate their comments on the report of the Seminar on National, Local and Regional Arrangements for the Protection of Human Rights in the Asian Region to the Secretary-General in time for submission to the General Assembly at its thirty-ninth session;
3. Requests the Secretary-General to transmit his report, together with further comments on the Seminar received from States members of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, to the General Assembly at its thirty-ninth session.
