Arrangements for the negotiation of an agreement between the United Nations and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization
The Economic and Social Council,
Recalling General Assembly resolution 34/96 of 13 December 1979, in which the Assembly requested the Council to arrange for the negotiation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization of an agreement to constitute it as a specialized agency in accordance with Articles 57 and 63 of the Charter of the United Nations,
Recalling also Council decision 1983/105 of 4 February 1983, in which it authorized the President of the Council to appoint from among the States members of the Council, in consultation with the Chairmen of the regional groups, the members of the Committee on Negotiations with Intergovernmental Agencies,
1. Takes note of the appointment by the President of the Economic and Social Council of the members of the Committee on Negotiations with Intergovernmental Agencies;
2. Authorizes the Committee on Negotiations with Intergovernmental Agencies to meet at an appropriate time to negotiate with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization a relationship agreement between the United Nations and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization;
3. Requests the Secretary-General to transmit directly to the Committee on Negotiations with Intergovernmental Agencies relevant proposals regarding the relationship agreement;
4. Requests the President of the Council, in consultation with the members of the Bureau, to convene, if necessary, a resumed session of the Economic and Social Council to consider the outcome of the work of the Committee with a view to taking appropriate action;
5. Invites the Committee on Conferences to make appropriate arrangements, within existing resources, for the meetings of the Committee on Negotiations with Intergovernmental Agencies.
