Fight against locust and grasshopper infestation in Africa
The Economic and Social Council,
Recalling General Assembly resolution 41/185 of 8 December 1986 on the fight against locust and grasshopper infestation in Africa,
Concerned about the unrelenting destructive effects of the current locust and grasshopper infestation in many regions of Africa,
1. Calls upon the international community to give high priority to the fight against the locust and grasshopper infestation in Africa, in particular to the new infestation of several regions in Mauritania;
2. Invites the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations to report to the Economic and Social Council at its second regular session of 1988 on the situation of the locust and grasshopper infestation in Africa.
