Need to enhance international co-operation in the field of protection and assistance to the family

The Economic and Social Council,

Recalling General Assembly resolution 43/135 of 8 December 1988,

1. Takes note with appreciation of the report of the Secretary-General entitled "Social situation of families: results of the survey of national policies for families", prepared in accordance with Economic and Social Council resolution 1987/46 of 28 May 1987;

2. Requests the Secretary-General, Member States, organizations and bodies of the United Nations system and intergovernmental organizations and non-governmental organizations, as appropriate, to implement fully General Assembly resolution 43/135.
