WORLD DECADE FOR CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT

The Economic and Social Council,

Recalling General Assembly resolution 44/238 of 22 December 1989, in which the Assembly expressed its support for the conduct of an evaluation at the mid-point of the World Decade for Cultural Development, in 1993, under the auspices of the United Nations and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization,

Taking into account Economic and Social Council resolution 1989/107 of 27 July 1989,

1. Takes note of the report of the Secretary-General on the mid-term review of the World Decade for Cultural Development;

2. Invites the Secretary-General and the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization to continue their inquiry into the appropriate means for undertaking a mid-term review of the World Decade for Cultural Development.
