The European Parliament,
A.having regard to the political situation in Angola,
B.having regard to the resumption of hostilities between the warring factions,
C.having regard to the ensuing lack of respect for and violation of human rights,
D.having regard to the humanitarian situation in Angola and the difficulties encountered in bringing supplies to civilians,
E.greatly concerned at the fate of the Angolan people in all the regions affected by the fighting,
1.Calls for humanitarian aid to be brought to all these people as a matter of urgency, throughout the territory of Angola;
2.Calls on all humanitarian organizations and NGOs concerned to participate;
3.Calls for the establishment of the necessary conditions to enable humanitarian organizations to act with all possible speed and without discrimination, to assist those affected by the fighting;
4.Hopes that the various sides engaged in the fighting will permit and facilitate action by humanitarian organizations on Angolan territory;
5.Instructs its President to forward this resolution to the Commission, the Council, the governments of the Member States, the UN Secretary-General, the governments of the United States, South Africa and Angola, the Secretary-General of the OAU, the Co-Presidents of the ACP-EEC Joint Assembly and the Presidents of MPLA and UNITA.
