Resolution on the need to respect the Security Council's resolutions on Iraq

The European Parliament,
A.recalling its support for Security Council resolutions on Iraq,
B.insisting that existing Security Council resolutions provide ample authority for intervention against Saddam Hussein if he defies the authority of the UN,
C.alarmed by the withdrawal of IAEA inspectors following the latest refusal of the Iraqi authorities to cooperate in overseeing the abolition of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction,
D.having regard to the incessant criminal attacks on Western NGO volunteers in Iraqi Kurdistan,
E.having regard in particular to the anonymous murders of several volunteers from the 'Médecins sans Frontières' Association, UNICEF staff and allied military personnel over the last few weeks,
1.Condemns the refusal of Saddam Hussein to cooperate with the UN;
2.Condemns vigorously the murders of volunteers from Western NGOs, UNICEF staff and French, British, American and Turkish allied military personnel committed by anonymous killers directed by the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein;
3.Instructs its President to forward this resolution to the Commission, the Council, EPC, the Members of the Security Council, the Government of Turkey, the National Assembly of Kurdistan (in Iraq), the Iraqi National Congress, the special UN rapporteur on Iraq, the Secretary-General of the Arab League and the Government of Iraq.
