Resolution on the recommendation for a Council decision on the opening of negotiations between the Community and certain other countries on the carriage of passengers and goods by road
The European Parliament,
-having regard to Rule 90 of its Rules of Procedure,
-having regard to the recommendation, submitted by the Commission pursuant to Article 228(1) of the EC Treaty, for a Council decision on the opening of negotiations between the Community and certain other countries on the carriage of passengers and goods by road,
-having regard to the conclusions of the meeting of the Council of Transport Ministers of 29 November 1993 on this subject,
1.Calls on the Council not to authorize the Commission to open negotiations with certain other countries on the carriage of passengers and goods by road until the European Parliament has expressed its opinion on the draft negotiating brief submitted by the Commission;
2.Instructs its Committee on Transport and Tourism, therefore, pursuant to Rule 90(2) of its Rules of Procedure, to draw up a specific report examining the negotiating brief as soon as possible;
3.Instructs its President to forward this resolution to the Council, the Commission and the Economic and Social Committee.
