Resolution on the appointment of members of the Court of Justice

The European Parliament,

A.whereas the role of the European Parliament in the appointment of members of the Court of Justice should be enhanced,

1.Requests the Governments of the Member States to ensure that appropriate arrangements are made for its Committee on Legal Affairs and Citizens' Rights to meet with prospective members of the Court of Justice prior to their appointment;

2.Instructs its President to forward this resolution to the governments and parliaments of the Member States, the Council, the Commission and the Court of Justice.
