Decision on the regulations and general conditions governing the performance of the Ombudsman's duties

The European Parliament,

-having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Community, and in particular Article 138e(4) thereof,

-having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Coal and Steel Community, and in particular Article 20d(4) thereof,

-having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Atomic Energy Community, and in particular Article 107d(4) thereof,

-having regard to its resolution of 17 December 1992 on the regulations and general conditions governing the performance of the European Ombudsman's duties,

-having regard to the Interinstitutional Agreement of 25 October 1993,

-having regard to the opinion of the Commission of 25 October 1993,

-having regard to its resolution of 17 November 1993 on democracy, transparency and subsidiarity - Ombudsman - Conciliation Committee, to which is annexed the draft decision of the European Parliament on the regulations and general conditions governing the performance of the Ombudsman's duties,

-having regard to the Council Decision of 7 February 1994 approving the draft decision of the European Parliament on the regulations and general conditions governing the performance of the Ombudsman's duties,

-having regard to the report of its Committee on Institutional Affairs (A3-0133/94),

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

The regulations and general conditions governing the performance of the Ombudsman's duties are hereby adopted definitively, in accordance with the text adopted in its abovementioned resolution of 17 November 1993.

Article 2

The decision, which incorporates the regulations and general conditions governing the performance of the Ombudsman's duties, signed by the President of the European Parliament, shall be published in the Official Journal of the European Communities (L Series).
