Resolution on the verification of the credentials of Mrs Dominique Voynet

The European Parliament,

-required, pursuant to Rule 7 of the Rules of Procedure, to verify the credentials of Mrs Dominique Voynet as the successor to the former Member Mrs Solange Fernex,

-having regard to Articles 1, 3, and 4 of the Act of 20 September 1976 concerning the election of the representatives of the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage,

-having regard to the report of the Committee on the Rules of Procedure, the Verification of Credentials and Immunities (A3-0300/94),

A.whereas, under Article 3(1) of the Act of 20 September 1976 concerning the election of the representatives of the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage, representatives are elected for a term of five years,

B.whereas the end of the term of office on resignation within the meaning of Rule 8(1) of the Rules of Procedure can be brought about only by voluntary resignation, which must not be influenced by any instructions from third persons or a political party,

C.whereas, in the light of her statements before the committee, it must be assumed that Mrs Voynet resigned her seat voluntarily on account of the national political offices to which she had been appointed,

1.Declares the credentials of Mrs Voynet to be valid;

2.Instructs its President to forward this resolution and the report of its committee to the national authorities responsible.
