Resolution on the plague epidemic in northern India

The European Parliament,

A.alarmed at the extent of the plague epidemic currently affecting India,

B.alarmed at the grave risks of contamination presented by this disease,

C.whereas reports from the area indicate that the epidemic has already cost the lives of many people,

1.Calls on the Commission to take urgent measures to come to the assistance of the Indian authorities, by dispatching urgently the antibiotics needed to combat the disease;

2.Instructs its President to forward this resolution to the Council, the Commission and the Indian Government.
