Resolution on the fires during the summer in Pollino national park, Basilicata

The European Parliament,

A.whereas a huge fire broke out in August in the part of Pollino national park, Europe's largest national park, situated in the Basilicata region,

B.whereas this huge fire devastated several thousand hectares of land and destroyed flora and fauna of major interest,

1.Calls on the Commission to take note of the scale and nature of the damage caused by the fire;

2.Calls on the Commission, as in previous exceptional cases, to take immediate steps to foster the restoration of the forest and the environment;

3.Instructs its President to forward this resolution to the Council, the Commission and the governments of the Member States.
