The European Parliament,

-having regard to the proposal for a Council Decision, COM(94)0015 - 94/0029(CNS),

-having regard to Articles 113 and 130y of the EC Treaty,

-having regard to the draft cooperation agreement between the European Community and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka on Partnership and Development initialled by the Commission (COM(94)0015),

-having been consulted by the Council pursuant to Article 228(3), first subparagraph, of the EC Treaty (C4-0124/94),

-having regard to the report of the Committee on External Economic Relations and the opinions of the Committee on Transport and Tourism, the Committee on Development and Cooperation and the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Security and Defence Policy (A4-0051/94),

1.Approves the conclusion of the agreement;

2.Instructs its President to forward this opinion to the Council and the Commission, and the governments and parliaments of the Member States and of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
