Resolution on the change in the legal basis of the proposal for a Council Regulation laying down provisions with regard to possession of and trade in specimens of species of wild fauna and flora (9457/95 - C4-0376/95 - 00/0370(COD))

The European Parliament,

-having regard to the original Commission proposal to Parliament and the Council, COM(91)0448, and its amended proposal, COM(93)0599 - 00/0370(COD),

-having regard to its opinion at first reading of 24 June 1993 on the proposal,

-having been consulted by the Council on changing the legal basis (C4-0376/95),

-having regard to the report of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Consumer Protection and the opinion of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Citizens' Rights (A4-0299/95),

1.Approves the modified legal basis proposed by the Council (Article 130s(1) of the EC Treaty);

2.Instructs its President to forward this resolution to the Council and, for information, the Commission.
