Today is the first day of hunger strike for me.
I've decided to begin with hunger strike; today is the first day. The goals of my nonviolent action are those which are engaging us, our intelligences, our energies since a long time. The goals of such an initiative are just the same goals which have made each of us decide to become members of the Transnational transparty which is the Radical Party, i.e. the establishing of the International Criminal Court, and the moratorium of capital executions.
My counterparts are just those persons who are called to decide in the frame of UNO, about it.
My hunger strike wants to speak to those consciences.
The political moment in which such an initiative is held is just the moment in which the planet can start walking on the path of a real juridical sovranational system.
Our efforts, nonviolent actions of ours, have been playing a major role in giving the world the ad hoc tribunal on ex-Yugoslavia war crimes. Now we are facing the possible step foreward on that path, which is just the path toward the affirmation of what is called the objective right, from which, only, subjective rights can get effectivity; they risk, they have been not just risking to be nothing but empty proclamations far from being transformed into real rights, which can not exist if they don't come from a juridical system: rules, authority, jurisdiction.
It is not per chance that our transnational transparty is fully engaged in such an effort: the party of right and law is looking at the Current UNGA as at a crucial occasion to consolidate the international ius cogens which exists just in the tribunal on former yugoslavia, so far.
Emma is in New York; whith her, we are fully engaged in such a challenge. I feel the duty - somehow the need, my friends - to give more of my energy and of my resources in our common challenge.
Radical Party plays the very concrete and crucial role of a nonviolent non-ideological political tool. It does. Radical Party prefigurates (does such a verb exist in English?) in itself the need for ultranational Law and Right. Radical Party as a political organization needs an institutional frame. It prefigurate the new institutional world system.
That's the reason why radical Party is a nonviolent organization, after all.
Somehow - or even concretely, we prefigurate the transformation of UNGA into a Parliament, with democratic and adequate powers and prerogatives.
I do believe nonviolent tecnologies to be of crucial importance in such an effort, in such an affirmation; which is an affirmation of conscience.
I'm not going to make public my hunger strike before Sunday. I mean I won't tell anything about the initiative to medias before that term.
I do not want to keep anything secret. I simply do not want to say anything about it to medias. Each of those friends who reads these lines can say it to everybody, except for medias, officially. A few hours, I think, are useful to reflect, to think, even among us. I do not mean to reflect about wether or not I should go on with the hunger strike, of course.
Let's check on a dictionary what satyagraha means...
I "simply" believe that it's time, just now, to give whatever I have in such an effort, in such a challenge. Which is a challenge, and it is not a bet; for each and everybody of us. Given that "tools, after all, are goals."...
